Fig at 7th

As we move close to National Cheeseburger day, we should all think about Fig at 7th. I felt like this center has changed so much with so many added additions. I got the opportunity to feast over a few burgers to spotlight some places you should try.

735 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90017

George's Greek

Starting with George's Greek. Greek marinated angus beef topped w/ greens, cucumbers, feta cheese & a garlic herb aioli. Super juicy and flavorful. The feta adds a zippy tang that goes fantastic with the greek seasonings in the patty.

City Tavern

This is City Tavern's pastrami burger. Extremely luscious with fatty meat and pastrami, melted swiss and a delicious slaw to help the jaw out. Perfectly cooked fries added to this burger for an additional charge, but it's worth it. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. The bun also held the burger together.

The Melt

From The Melt, this is their Spicy Mission Burger - Pepper Jack, Jalapeños, Avocado, Romaine, Pickled Onion w/ Spicy Ketchup. The bun also held the burger together really well. It's always scary to have sliced jalapenos. I love them, but they are tricky little creatures. Sometimes they are mild, and sometimes you know you are asking for it. These were spicy! love the heat though.

The Melt

The classic Original Cheddar Burger - Aged Cheddar, Tomato, Romaine w/ Melt Sauce. Sometimes, you just need a simple cheeseburger to satisfy that burger crabe. Again, great bun, fresh condiments, and a juicy snappy pickle.

Check out Fig at 7th if you haven't already. There are other great burger joints like Five Guys which also carries delicious fries and milkshakes, and Morton's steakhouse that also serves a mean burger.

True Food Kitchen - Santa Monica

Not going to lie or try to be swift about it. We came to Santa Monica to play Pokemon. The good thing about this game is how hungry you get from all that walking. There isn't really a time where we declined the chance to eat something. And that's when we stumbled upon True Food.

It was a hot day. Even by the beach, it was extremely humid. Humidity alone does it for me. I don't care if we are in the high's, but being drenched in your own sweat is not the same as a gorgeous pork roast based in it's own fat. It's just not a good look on me. I needed to find shelter, fast. And cool down before I start having weird body beach odors that I never knew I could achieve.

The restaurant was packed, but they were quick to accommodate. In hot weather like this, make sure you hydrate yourself with tons of water. I had a huge migraine from heat exhaustion and even popped a midol just for relief. But it also turned out that I was hungry. After ordering, it wasn't long before our food arrived.

Wild Mushroom Pizza

Pizza is topped with mushrooms, asparagus, roasted garlic, and taleggio. A light pizza to coast through the day without feeling overly guilty. Vegetarian pizza does that to you. It just makes you forget about the carbs all because there's green stuff floating around. Still a delicious pie that I would order again.

Grass fed burger

My brother, David, was bummed they no longer carry their bison burger. John was also disappointed since David was raving about it. If you've been here for the bison burger, we found out that their supplier couldn't meet the demand. Makes sense. But this burger did not disappoint. The burger is piled with umami mushroom, caramelized onion, arugula, parmesan, mayonnaise, sandwiched between a flax seed bun. The burger had a delicious beefy flavor with a nice crust. The sauteed mushrooms really added that extra level of umami to the burger. And there's nothing I love more than a burger that has arugula wedged in between. This is a upside down burger to eat to make sure it doesn't break apart.

I'll be back to try more items and have a cocktail or so.

Kings Row Gastropub- Pasadena

I've been to Kings Row a few times since they've opened doors a few years ago. I've celebrated friends birthday here, graduations, and their famous piggy roast that you can find every 3rd Thursday of the month. It's a great space to hang out and they do offer food to accommodate the savvy eaters.

Besides having food to serve with your drinks, I kind of forgot that breakfast/brunch was something they did here at KRG. Below you will find the slew of most of their brunch menu with a few additions to their main.

And of course, you can't forget the cocktails.

Check them out for Brunch whenever you are looking for a local spot. Nice to not have to dive into Los Angeles.
